Some simple harmonies were included to beef the song up a bit. Also, this song moves from a sort-of folkish to a rockish feel. I think it works pretty well, anyway. :)
progressive alternative rock acoustic solo music
This is me - my life in the form of music. Although my favorite type of music is progressive rock, I also liking writing solo acoustic songs, and have made some attempts at creating a few techno/industrial instrumental songs.
Story behind the song
The things in life that we put up with just because someone is related to us. I guess just realizing that being family doesn't entitle you to treat someone like dirt is what motivated this song.
Lyrics
Miles away from you tonight,
I’m standing here all on my own,
Holding up now just fine,
And you thought I could never stand alone.
My ultimatum is placing,
A little pressure now,
For you to act now or loosely,
Pull each strand out.
Every strand,
Of your woven ties to me,
We don’t deserve to land,
Right back at the beginning.
Don’t think that I don’t miss you,
I cry for memories past,
But my tears have turned an awkward blue,
From this suffocating grasp.
I’m standing here, waiting,
To see if anything will change.
My ultimatum is placing,
A little pressure now,
For me to let of go of this tracing,
Of life’s unanswered how’s.
And every strand,
Of your woven ties to me,
Must be removed,
So we don’t end up at the beginning.
What I’ve done,
Who I’ve become,
Is of no consequence to you.
I don’t have to be a certain way,
Just to be the way I am,
I hope I’m always able to say,
That love surely can (exist).
