Story behind the song
I've always liked this oldie. In 1963 my best friend and I went down to the record shop in town and bought this 45 rpm single with his pocket money (plus some extra from his mum). We played it on his mum's radiogram. What a treat it was. His mum was quite with it. She played Beatles records and was a pretty groovy modern mum. We played that 45 a lot. I guess as 11 year olds that record would have been an exciting thing. It obviously made a big impression on me.
