Story behind the song
I wrote this very early one morning recently, having been unable to sleep. I got up and sat at the piano just as dawn was breaking and the melody and lyrics sort of formed themselves.
Lyrics
In A Dream
Composer: Mike Nash
In a dream, I can see you,
In your house, by the sea,
Your gaze across the water,
Is fixed upon eternity.
While out in the bay,
The ocean rise and fall,
Is mirrored by your breathing,
As you focus on it all,
The sunrise floats across the sky,
And purple turns to gold,
The world awakes to another day,
Says farewell to the old.
In a dream, I can see you,
In your house, by the sea,
The dawn reflected in your eyes,
Is so very real to me.
While out in the bay,
The ocean rise and fall,
Is mirrored by your breathing,
As you focus on it all,
The sunrise floats across the sky,
And purple turns to gold,
The world awakes to another day,
Says farewell to the old.
In a dream, I can see you,
In your house, by the sea,
Your thoughts are gone across the foam,
Your mind lost in the scene.
While out in the bay,
The ocean rise and fall,
Is mirrored by your breathing,
As you focus on it all,
The sunrise floats across the sky,
And purple turns to gold,
The world awakes to another day,
Says farewell to the old.
In a dream, I can see you,
In your house, by the sea.
