This is a song from our 1st. Albertropolis album. One of my favourites, but it's 'birth' was very troublesome. To make matters worse, I accidently deleted a massive section of it. So, a lot of rebuilding and re-recording ensued. Steampunk / Steamwave

Artist picture
Big Sleep is the name of the imaginary 'band/group, that all the music I create with my friend and musical collaborator, Tony Webster goes under. Tony is pictured on the right in the photo; me on the left in the dark blue suit. Tony is an artist / illustrator, writer of lyrics and stories, song arranger and a mine of information on any subject under the sun . . . I (David A Briggs) play all the instruments (mostly of the stringed variety), perform all the studio 'jiggery-pokery', sing and dabble a little in the visual arts.

Story behind the song
This is a song from our 1st. Albertropolis album. Tony had written this song (although in a slightly different form) a few years before we began collaborating together. As usual, when I 'got my hands on it', it evolved into something a little different. It's a complicated 'story song', and has a few twists and turns, tempo changes and a lot of light and shade... mainly of a dark Gothic shade !

Great sounding tune David. I really like the gothic vibe you've created here and the tempo changes. The harpsichord and organ sounds great. Really nice work with the hihats and cymbal too. Is it your laughter im hearing in the middle? Really nice performance and production. Very creative work! Also very interesting to read the story behind the song that you posted on the CC blog :) Thanks for sharing!

I read about the dramatical making off of this track. Accidentally deleting parts is just the most horrible thing that can happen when you are working on a project. But the result is fantastic after all. This song contains some horror for me as well. Somebody becoming mad, seeing things that are not there. Perfect for a film, very visual. A crime story? Good job!
Mesmerizing the way this one flows, almost hypnotic at times. I've never before heard that old pre-alt/gothic sound blended with progressive elements in this way, but I can't wait to hear more.

Great title and fantastic delivery David :) A passion play in Prog/Alt format that's thoroughly engaging intellectually and sonically :) Massive sounding mix with lots of room for the imagination to move around in.
