The music of Lee Shapiro, which consists of a variety of styles and genres. I would appreciate if you "liked" or commented on any of the songs you enjoy.
My favorite kinds of music is the kind that surprises you. While I enjoy conventional type songs (verse, chorus, verse chorus, bridge, chorus), I prefer songs that take you on an adventure. This includes jam songs (Grateful Dead), and songs with many detours and lots of dynamics (Rickie Lee Jones, Dave Matthews). Although most of my songs tend to fall into some kind of normal verse/chorus formula, I do tend to try and mix things up a bit. Which is why most of my songs last longer than 4 or 5 minutes.

Story behind the song
It was one year ago that I lost my wife. During our marriage, I wrote her love songs, hate songs, songs asking her to stay, songs asking her to go. But this was the first song I ever wrote her. We were having troubles at the time (it seemed like we were always having troubles), but she said this song made her fall in love with me all over again. It was also the first song I wrote after moving to Washington State and the first song I wrote using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) as opposed to analog 4-track tape.
Lyrics
It's a grand reopening of my heart This day has taken so long to find you There are times when we might have been apart Ring out the old, singing in the new Everything is gonna be alright When you and I are together Every day and every single night You are there to make things better We are part of each other, side by side Lean on me when you are feeling down Everyone has small doubts inside But I fall in love whenever you're around [Repeat Chorus] Let me love you again, I'm sure I'll find a way Let me feel your heart open up to me [Repeat Chorus] I love the beauty of your wisdom I saw the truth behind your sad smile I took shelter in your dreamer's optimism I gave strength to your frightened inner child [Repeat Chorus]
