Story behind the song
This, the ninth song in the story of the Seventeen Cent Croonie takes place inside Nick's Barber Shop. What do they find when the coin is examined at its smallest level? Folks at Nick's are skeptical. The song's musical style is somewhere between Gilbert & Sullivan and Frank Zappa.
Lyrics
1 The Wall of Endless Mirrors is alive; Barbershop gossips are chompin’ and chewin’. Most ancient of Croonies been pulled all apart. The quantum mechanics got the tiniest news; The waves are like particles, the particles wave, There’s nothing to see, nothing to touch But interdimensional space. CHORUS: Interactive Croonie, Sub-Atomic Coin. Today they say that we will go Deep inside those coins of gold. Higgs-Boson spins and quarks collide; There's probably not a reason why. 2 Nicky the Barber, livid with rage: “That study don’t make no sense. Photons, yeah, sure, they take us for fools; I wouldn’t give seventeen cents.” “They’re hidin’ the truth” says the guy in the chair, “Remember it’s me that dug up those coins; Something was sure in that air.” CHORUS 3 Mirrors of mirrors reflected the screen; Physical laws don’t seem to apply. We’re mostly the same in our DNA; So where do the personal differences lie? A coin at an indeterminate time Can easily measure, can count us all in, Can tell you that Croonie is mine. CHORUS
