Inside The Ogallala Aquifer

A longish (8:00 minutes) ambient/experimental soundtrack for exploring the hidden depths and strangeness of flooded underground cave systems such as The Ogallala Aquifer. I don't know if this is actually a possibility, so imagination is needed here.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
An experimental piece', assembled' on my DAW of choice, Adobe Audition(1.5) using various royalty free samples from Computer Music Magazine... played and looped Keyboard sounds from my ancient Yamaha PSR-275 keyboard, bass guitar (Rickenbacker 4003), guitar (Parker Fly) and drums from my now also pretty ancient Zoom RT-123 drum machine.
Lyrics
No lyrics, apart from 'treated/processed' vocals sent through various EQ filters within Adobe Audition (1.5)...to achieve a distorted telephone receiver effect.

Whoa . . . there's something in the bath water. Is strong in atmospheric tension, great looping/evolving waveforms lead to a dark place. A dark watery labyrinth . . .

A very exciting journey, David. Whether you are under water or in space is irrelevant, this piece lifts you out of your "comfy chair" and into an everchanging, mysterious world of torn bits and pieces of music revolving around a podium, where some professor keeps repeating messages that noone listens to. Every time the music starts to become repetitive, it is sucked into a bubbling vortex that will transform it to a diffferent sound or melody. This world has it's own rules. And to visit it was a great experience :)

I can see myself in a dark theater as my movie starts with this music playing. I can only echo what everyone else has said - great atmospheric piece - love the bass transition at 2:47. Interesting departure from what I know of your music - the 'Brit Invasion', Beautiful musical transition at 5:06 on - beautiful guitar work. Major props David, but I had to run to the bathroom numerous times while listening to this ;-) My favorite piece from you to date David! Bravo!
I've been anticipating this track ever since you hinted at what was to come - it does not disappoint. Turn off the lights, close your eyes, and let this one wash over you. A great representation of an alien world close to home.

Combining the elements of sound, texture and rhythm with new and interesting approaches…Technically impressive, intricate, complex, beautiful, mysterious, and awe inspiring, along with lush pads and ambient guitar sets in motion the wonderment of it all. Bravo!Bravo!Bravo!

Brilliant atmosphere - having been on a tour of some caves in Dorset (not very deep ones) I'd say you've got it spot on! They do most of it by candlelight and then put all the lights out to show you that it's completely black down there...all you can hear are some dripping noises and odd echoes - really spooky! I love this kind of music, it's great the way we can create pictures with sounds...and this track is excellent.
