About a guy who takes good care of a girlfriend who was frightened by storms but she takes off and leaves him. He still hopes she'll come back and he will sing to her if she ever does.
acoustic guitar
I'm a folky acoustic guitar player/singer. I thought this might be a good place to make some of my music available on the web.
Story behind the song
This was written by my buddy, Larry Shakley, when we were in high school in the 70's. Guitar arrangement was mostly by our mutual friend, Larry Robinson. Larry S. wrote this about some girl he was smitten by. He was kinda embarrassed about the song so he rarely played it. Somehow our mutual friend, Larry Robinson found out about it and got the other Larry to play it. He thought it was beautiful and did a guitar arrangement and played it often. I got it from Larry Robinson.
Lyrics
LULABY Larry Shakley
Lady are you there, and do you still care
Are you happy now that you're free
And have you found, someone around
You can count on, like you counted on me
When the showers poured, and the thunder roared
And the lightning made you cry
I would keep you warm, hide you from the storm
And I'd sing you a lulaby
And together we would calm your fears
And soothe your mind and dry your tears
And I'd always stay till the rain went away
And the clouds had left your eyes
But at once it seemed, your eyes lost the gleam
That they had in days gone by
When you went away, said you'd be back the day
That your dreams had all run dry
So, however long it takes for you
That's just how long I'll wait for you
Till some lonely day, you'll come back and say
Sing for me your lulaby
