Story behind the song
Beverly needed a liver transplant. Lord, we sure could use a miracle today. Beverly is no longer here with us (but she is certainly with us). Maybe the miracle God had in mind was that Beverly was saved before she went to be with him. Lord, help us to see beyond our own reflection when we pray.
Lyrics
Bev’s Song Lord, we sure could use a miracle today. I wasn’t list’ning for angels singing when I woke up today And I stopped looking for miracles somewhere along the way But now I’m looking for an angel to help me find my way. Lord, we sure could use a miracle today. A voice said: Look into the mirror and tell me what you see. Look beyond your own reflection, where only eyes of faith can see Open up your heart, let the Spirit shine through And you will see where angels make miracles come true. But when I look in the mirror, Lord, my reflection is all I see I can’t see angels, when my heart does not believe. But Lord, I’m looking for a miracle, please make the vision clear Beyond my own reflection, in the mirror. I dreamed I saw a river, where the water was deep and clear Then a single drop of rain made my reflection disappear And there I saw an angel, he said, Now my child you see That beyond your own reflection, is where the Spirit can be free. Now I’m list’ning for angel singing, when I wake up each day I stop to look for miracles everywhere along the way. And when I look into the mirror, I see a world that’s bright and new Beyond my own reflection, where miracles come true Lord, we sure could use a miracle today.
