Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
A message to debunk the 'defeated Christian' syndrome.
Lyrics
(v.1) As Jesus went through his youth and learned who he was from the scrolls, A fire started burning in his heart about the path that he had chose. He read how God never wanted Israel to ever be beaten at anything, How a life with God should clearly be winning and winning and more winning. (v.2) So Jesus turns of age and now begins his ministry. The fire still burning in his heart, he always expects victory. The devil tried every strategy to knock him of his winning streak. But Jesus had learned years before God wouldn't even want the smallest defeat. Jesus showed you and me... God always expects victory. (bridge 1) Jesus Christ was a winner, the best the world ever saw. He took every situation and turned it into a win for God. (v.3) Imagine yourself on a team, it's time now for the season to begin. Now imagine a frame of mind where you go to each game knowing you'll win. That's the mind that Jesus Christ grew to have as he read the scrolls. And that's the mind God wants for us... a mind where only confidence grows. Jesus showed you and me... God always expects victory. (bridge 2) So when we all are tempted to let defeat come in Let's turn to the God of triumph and feed upon His will to win. Jesus showed you and me... God always expects victory.
