Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
An expose of my undisciplined mind, and how, if you also have one, it does NOT completely tie God's hands from working with your prayers.
Lyrics
(v.1) Seems each time I sit down to pray My mind keeps trying to wander away. I think I’ve won a battle when I complete a thought. I sure do start prayers over a lot. I hear a noise, then I think, “What was that?” Then go back to my praying...but...”Where was I at?” Seems like my attention span likes to see how small it can be. I know I need more discipline. I know my mind belongs to me. But as I pray fragmentedly I never do doubt God’s love for me. (chorus) Ten seconds later, God is still there ready to hear some more of my prayer. He’ll take it in pieces, He doesn’t care. Ten seconds later, God is still there. (v.2) I can’t imagine Jesus Christ Doing the things that he did in life With a mind like mine, that wanders all the time. He’d have missed God’s voice most of the time. But he kept his thoughts where they needed to stay He didn’t waste time even when he prayed Until I reach that discipline that we all need to learn... Until I reach that inner strength to hold a prayer firm... Until I finally get that tough... I’ll just keep picking up where I left off. (chorus) Ten seconds later, God is still there ready to hear some more of my prayer. One piece at a time, He doesn’t mind. Ten seconds later, God is still there. (bridge alternative 2) God would sure love to have a long talk, But until I reach that point in my walk...
