Story behind the song
Written for the Frack Awareness Coalition Concert to be held on September 30, 2012, I was trying to celebrate water, an essential resource endangered by careless, wasteful and poorly-regulated hydraulic fracturing.
Lyrics
Verse 1:
Cool, clear, water,
Rain, snow, and ice.
All kinds of weather
Flow from the sky
Raindrops keep this thirsty world
Half full
Melting ice might feed an empty
Valley
Morning mist that wakes the sleeping
Soil
Always
CHORUS:
Words for water, thoughts remain,
Precious water, floats away.
Where’s the water?
Such abundance underground,
Condensation from the clouds.
Where’s the water?
Verse 2:
One stream will run
Days before it’s still
Circle’s begun
When every cup is filled
Spin the wheel that grinds the grain
For flour
Open up the gates to ease
This crises
Turn a turbine, can’t you feel the
Power
Rising?
CHORUS
Verse 3:
Drink deep and long
Bathe beneath the stream
Send the sky your song
An ancient peoples’ dream
Might be liquid, might be gas,
Or crystal
Depending on the pressure that it’s
Under
Break it down to only its
Essential
Wonder
CHORUS
