Upbeat. Uptempo. Fully orchestrated. One of my few songs in a minor key. Has some driving intensity, which might conflict a bit with the title, which normally is a tender and loving question.

Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
It's been 18 years, so memory is fuzzy. But I think the music came first, then the lyrics. That was my normal routine back then, but not today. I like the message about righteousness in the final verse.
Lyrics
(v.1) I look around and see a world in turmoil, And I know I’ve caused enough of my own. But now my life belongs to the Savior. So Lord show me where Your good seeds should be sown. (chorus) HMIH. Lord of all these people I see, there must be... HMIH. ...someone you’ve guided to me. (v.2) By myself I doubt I’ll change the world. That took a man more perfect than I. But if I will follow his love and wisdom, I can sure help someone standing nearby. (chorus) (v.3) Jesus Christ reached over the gap to save me. His righteousness now is mine. One thing I’ve learned about being righteous: It means you’re at the right place at the right time. (chorus)
