Or as my kids call it - R&B Squared.
Story behind the song
Ever since my finance and her son moved in, her son Wayne's has been spotting the elusive Cobra R whenever we go out for a drive. It's become something funny in our house. This is the real story of the Lengend of the Cobra R. Kind of a tribute to all the great car songs and how we imagine we were in them - revving it up and hauling ass down the road.
Lyrics
It came rolling down the road at a hundred miles an hour. Gravel flying, chrome shining, many horses of power. With it's red paint gleaming like it was on fire. A bumper sticker saying "wanted: dead or alive" The Cobra R's racing leaving all the others behind.
It was whispered in the honky tonks a man could make a living. Runnin guns from Memphis to Hell's Kitchen. The the county mounty's lookin to make a stop the state troopers car sittin home on blocks, the Cobra R raced through Jersey and never stopped.
We the guys at Nascar heard about the Cobra R legend. About some kid named Wayne from the north part of Nebraska. With the challenge thrown down they met him out on the road, The cobra R took where they couldn't go. he blew them all away and that's how the story goes.
Well they thin it came from some factory in Detroit City. How it became th Cobra R is still a mystery. It was born on the wind and raised in a storm, crossed the high road on a misty morn. The Cobra R's gonna race for evermore.
If a vision comes up on you in the rear view mirror. You hear a jet like roar and it's getting nearer and nearer. The see the red paint gleeming like it was on fire the bumper sticker saying wanted dead or alive, The Cobra R's racing leaving all the others behind.
