Nothing ever is what it seems
peaceful places turn into horrific scenes
filled with violent screams
People constantly balancing between extremes
Strolling down the roadway on a beautiful day
walking around seeing the children play
their smiles reflected in the sunrays
On my way to the store
ignoring the whores leaning against the wall hoping to score
but I don’t even notice them anymore
I’m blessed with a beautiful wife
the love of my life
her name carved in my heart without needing a knife
Already thinking about starting a family, living happily
but all of a sudden the situation changes rapidly
It’s amazing how things can change
it’s strange how good and bad exchange places at close range
A car comes round the corner
tires squealing
people jumping away yelling and screaming
it appears as if I’m dreaming
The passenger peaking out the open window
gun in the right hand while puffing on some indo
every movement goes slow
I finally understand as a trace of recognition appears on his face
I’m trapped in a violent mace
there’s no way out of this place
staring at the gunman as everything becomes a blurry haze.

Poetic Flow:
I scream out “Oh sh** ” as I see the gun reflecting in the sun
My life flashing before my eyes like a rerun
realizing it might end before it even begun
Only 20 years old
I have no accomplishments to behold
reality penetrating my protective fold
telling me life can’t be controlled
All my dreams are being shattered
my life battered
showing my insignificance like I never really mattered
Bullets scattered
blowing like soft breezes
the scene freezes while the gunman aims and squeezes
A lil’ girl’s life gets taken away by a bullet that flew astray
jumping the girl like a lion jumps his prey
Sound fades out in the erupting commotion
movements blur out
the world in slow motion
staring at the gunman without emotion
The smell of fear hanging around like an expensive lotion
sudden shocks hit my chest
my face expressed the pain as my body protests
coldness grabbing my heart as it’s being repossessed
Hands reaching out stumbling to my knees
my chest filled with stinging bees
body trembling like I have Alzheimer's disease
My empty eyes looking up to the bright sky mumbling out “why?”
waiting for a reply as I sigh, breathing out my last supply
darkness engulfs me as I slowly die.
