Story behind the song
Here's a tune I created inspired by a couple of 4:4 drum exercises in a 1977 book by "So You Want To Be A Drummer" By Eddie McNeil. I shortened the second exercise by half and created a 3:4 time signature. It's all done in Reason 6.0 with a Synth Nation Refill by Samplefiends and a Hitman 2 Bass Drum combinator from the refill by -008. I programmed a pattern into Cakewalk Express as a midi file, imported it into Reason and rendered it as a wav and created a rex loop using Recycle Lite. I then applied a "thrash metal" effect to the loop so it sounds more like a heavy rhythm guitar than a drum pattern. Then I added a bass drum part, and a bass guitar part and so on, inspired by Mars the Planet Suite by Gustav Holst and James Paddock's track "Thunder", as well as the game music from "Heretic" by Kevin Schilder.
