We are a group of people who enjoy songwriting and then recording the songs. We do it for fun.
The Overtone Gang is a group of people who enjoy songwriting and then recording the songs. The structure of the gang is flexible and people may participate on one CD and not on another. It's their choice. Each person is allowed to pursue their own projects and come back to join the gang. Egos get in the way of music so we try hard to eliminate the reasons for it. 7 different people have been involved in the first three CDs. The Cycle of Life CD included a lot more people (16 in total). Our CD "Relations" had only four people. On our latest CD, Earth, there were three of us, Melanie Broussard, Buddy Trotter and Danny Liggett. The gang has written and recorded songs for 8 CDs. These were recorded by ourselves (no record deal). We duplicate our own CDs, design and print out the booklet and put the jewel case together. We do it for fun.

Story behind the song
Too many things to deal with can lead to an early demise. But all of them are fun.
Lyrics
I grew up as a kid on Blueberry Hill Like Fats Domino, I found my thrill Playing in the alley with Betty and Lil Drinking Thunderbird till we all got ill One day I stole a kiss from Lil real quick Betty got mad and picked up a brick Aiming for my head she gave me a lick A darn good pitch for a left-hand chick Wine, women and woe One of them’s got to go Wine, women and woe One of them’s got to go I can handle two but I can’t do three One of them’s gonna be The death of me I used to skip school to listen to the blues Dancing with Sally in my blue suede shoes Till we got caught drinking bootleg booze Daddy whipped my butt; made me pay my dues I helped a neighbor out whose car was on the brink When I got through she said with a wink “Won’t you come in for a friendly drink?” Her husband showed up; now what do you think?
