Isn't it always all about the money

We are a group of people who enjoy songwriting and then recording the songs. We do it for fun.
The Overtone Gang is a group of people who enjoy songwriting and then recording the songs. The structure of the gang is flexible and people may participate on one CD and not on another. It's their choice. Each person is allowed to pursue their own projects and come back to join the gang. Egos get in the way of music so we try hard to eliminate the reasons for it. 7 different people have been involved in the first three CDs. The Cycle of Life CD included a lot more people (16 in total). Our CD "Relations" had only four people. On our latest CD, Earth, there were three of us, Melanie Broussard, Buddy Trotter and Danny Liggett. The gang has written and recorded songs for 8 CDs. These were recorded by ourselves (no record deal). We duplicate our own CDs, design and print out the booklet and put the jewel case together. We do it for fun.

Story behind the song
This is just a fun song. The meaning is pretty clear. Buddy added the third verse which I really like. Kind of fits the times.
Lyrics
They talks a good show About the people don’t you know But don’t let them you fool ya Their only gonna screw ya When the money’s tight They gotta make it right They’ll come lookin’ for ya They’re gonna say c’ya Let me tell ya honey It’s all about the money You don’t mean a thing An all familiar ring It’s all about the money It’s all about the money It’s all about the money The doctor’s in the office And he want to check your orifice There’s really not a need Just chalk it up to greed Now let’s meet the politician This is the perfect condition Deals in the back room Treat us like a mushroom Let me tell ya honey…. You open your mail What a deal, what a sale Zero percent for a while Enough to make you smile The while turns to years Enough to muster tears The minimum charge is tough to pay How in the world did it get this way Fleecing these sheep is so easy it ought to be a crime
