Uptempo. Has some modal mood to it. The lyrics might come off a bit preachy (i.e. "Thankfulness. Don't forget it.") I was pretty caught up in the importance of thankfulness. The biblical reference comes from John 6:11.

Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
The music grew from a tiny idea generated by a "random MIDI melodies" program I wrote when I was doing music with a Commodore 64 (sometime in the early 1990's).
Lyrics
(reference verse is John 6:11) (v1) Just five loaves and just two fish. Simple math will figure this. Food supply is way too light. Most won't ever see a bite. But math is not the final say. So all the people ate that day. How did Jesus stretch it out? What's this miracle about? (bridge 1) The only action he applied To the food that was supplied Was giving thanks for the meal Then everyone there ate their fill. (v2) Lots of cash is not the way. Thankfulness still works today. Trusting God to meet your need. Staying far away from greed. Want to cancel out your stress? Don't forget your thankfulness. Thankfulness is mental health. Clears the mind. Heals the self. (intro reprise) Thankfulness. Don't forget it. (v.3) The more thankful you become does you good more ways than one. Thankfulness will decrease your number of emergencies. (bridge 2) You don't always have to be a fighter. Thankfulness will make life lighter. So ask yourself more and more, "What can now I thank God for?" (v.4) How do you make more from less? The secret is thankfulness. Now through life as you progress don't forget your thankfulness. (intro reprise, FINALE) But math is not the final say. Thankfulness still works today. Ask yourself more and more, "What can now I thank God for?" Thankfulness. Don't forget it. (x2)
