Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
Summer of 2011 we had 3 power outages where I live. Really brings things to a halt, and it sounded like a good parallel for Adam and Eve causing the power outage with God ... Who would later fix it.
Lyrics
(text-to-speech source: http://www.naturalreaders.com/index.htm ) "Darlin', will you flip on that switch there, please?" (v1) Being productive at home one night It's dark outside but we've got light. All is calm. All is fine. My wife does her thing. I do mine. "Then [phffftt] everything goes dark." "Seems we've got a power outage." "Well, how long is it gonna take to fix that?" NARR Lauren: "Your estimated time of repair is 12 to 24 hours." "Oh, my. That long?" (v2) Adam and Eve in the garden Even at night they've got light. But they get lured to that tree, They take a bite, then suddenly [phffftt] "Adam! What have you done?" "Seems we've got a power outage." "How long is it gonna take to fix this?" NARR Mel: "Your estimated time of repair is approx 4,000 years." "Wow. That's a long time to be in the dark." (bridge 1) It's just amazing the abrupt stop. When power is lost life comes to a halt. It's frustrating what you can't do Can't finish a project can't start something new. (v3) Pentecost. Spirit outpoured. That's when power was restored. Even then, though, things distress When we lose our thankfulness [phffftt] "Well, damn it all! Why did it get dark again?" "Seems we've got a power outage." "How long?!" NARR Claire: "Your estimated time of repair is as quickly as you wish. It could be in your next thought." (bridge 2) Asking God to damn something That's a prayer to the wrong lord. Thankfulness is a healing force Another way power gets restored. (v4) When the power comes back on It's a moment filled with joys. Lights come on. Equipment powers up. Love that visibility and noise. "Lord, for the new birth, thank You." NARR Mike: "Power restored."
