never trust a man with a guitar.
I've long been fascinated by how music takes you away to another time or place and transforms your state of mind. When I was about six years old, I wore out a toy guitar, amp and microphone. I wanted to be just like Garth Brooks back then. I started piano lessons at around age eight. I played clarinet, alto and baritone saxophone in middle and high school. And then I discovered guitar at age fourteen, literally played until my fingers bled on more than one occasion. I also wrote my first song around that time; it was called "Twister." "Blame" came more than fifteen years ago, and I haven't put the guitar down since. It's been one of the few constants in my life. My influences run the gamut but most notably include Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bob Dylan and many popular alternative rock artists of the '90's. Most important for me, it's about creativity, artistic expression and capturing moments of raw emotion. Music is my outlet, and I can only hope that some tiny part of at least one of these songs speaks to you as it has to me.

Lyrics
never will (survivor’s guilt) v1 lost in the pages of letters we write unseen in the postcards from a past paradise made are these memories in the blink of an eye now soul’s fading flames melt to ice v2 like a ghost in a daydream too hard to deny if only we’d noticed in time we could fly but these wings they are broken and from that we can’t hide weightless in waiting with faith as our guide c these echoes of silence are drowning in fear patience is torn from these scars so sincere alone with my thoughts now alone in this skin with grace we’ll rebuild but replace never will v3 if your dreams were for sale do you know what you’d buy how much you pay at what cost name your price searching for solace in a reason or rhyme as gravity grasps but our heads they are high c these echoes of silence are drowning in fear patience is torn from these scars so sincere alone with my thoughts now alone in this skin with grace we’ll rebuild but replace never will v1 lost in the pages of letters we write unseen in the postcards from a past paradise made are these memories in the blink of an eye now soul’s fading flames melt to ice © 2009 | Jason Stone
