My favorite kinds of music is the kind that surprises you. While I enjoy conventional type songs (verse, chorus, verse chorus, bridge, chorus), I prefer songs that take you on an adventure. This includes jam songs (Grateful Dead), and songs with many detours and lots of dynamics (Rickie Lee Jones, Dave Matthews). Although most of my songs tend to fall into some kind of normal verse/chorus formula, I do tend to try and mix things up a bit. Which is why most of my songs last longer than 4 or 5 minutes.

Story behind the song
This song is a work of semi-fiction, any resemblance to those persons living or dead is sort of coincidental. In 5th grade I had my own personal bully that would chase me home everyday after school. I was relieved when school was over and I started summer camp, only to be terrorized again when I saw that same bully get on the camp bus on the next stop after mine. Fortunately the reign of terror ended and we became friends...sort of. It was a good early preparation for the other bullies I would have to contend with later on in life. Bullies come in all shapes and forms, whether it's a spouse or your boss....never let them see you sweat.
