Singer/songwriter, Indie self-recorded: Wm Perry writes & performs tight, well-crafted songs. Honest & not boring, sometimes disturbing, with jangled-y edges. T
"I approach the writing of songs as if it's the only tool I have, with which to do something I don't understand." BIOGRAPHY: Failed. Kept moving. Your typical starving artist story. BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, followed by several years in the Sign Industry. Front man in a multitude of short-lived bands, playing in clubs and warehouses in Chicago and LA's artsy, marginal war-zone neighborhoods. Now solo artist, self-recording. Bought a cheap, old house on Craig's List (without seeing it first!) and moved from Chicago to Cincinnati, an "economic refugee" you could say. Now completing renovations that make four floors of combined living/studio space and working on new music.

Lyrics
Distraction - William McGuffey Perry It was that very night that I made that promise That every light in town just burned out It was on that very morning as I gathered my belongings That all of my dreams had succumbed to doubt And you can’t tell me one way or the other Not that I’d listen, not that you’d bother It’s just a distraction from the real mistake And here in that rat’s nest’s the next move I’ll make It’s not very different the first time around In a place nowhere special, run into the ground A broken contraption, a snapped rubber band Barren of dreams and empty of hand And you can’t tell me one way or another Not that I’d listen, not that you’d bother It’s just a distraction from the real mistake And there in that rat’s nest’s the next move I’ll make It was on this very evening as I set my things down On a bed ten blocks east in the same lightless town With an Eveready flashlight and a sextant on the sun It was you or never, it was now or no one And I can’t tell you one way or another Not that you’d listen, not that I’d bother It’s just a distraction from the real mistake And in that rat’s nest is the next move I’ll make
