Story behind the song
Reading Titus 1:2, where it talks about something God cannot do. Got the wheels to turning about limitations God has, and why they keep Him perfect and dependable.
Lyrics
(v1) God cannot contradict Himself. He’s more consistent than two plus two. God cannot disobey His Word. He’s more obedient than me and you. Both these things that God cannot do ... they’re both things we wouldn’t want Him to. Praise God for the things God cannot do. (v2) God cannot ever tell us a lie. Perfection will not allow him to. God cannot ever break a promise. even when it sounds too good to be true. Knowing these things God cannot do gives us confidence that we never knew. Praise God for the things God cannot do. (bridge) It may seem kind of awkward to think of God as being unable. But those limits that God has are what make Him reliable and stable. He is the source of light so He cannot be hidden. He is the source of authority so He cannot be forbidden. (v3) We say His power knows no bounds. We say His love ... surrounds. We say His wisdom confounds. We say His foresight ... astounds. All these claims we make are true, but there’s still a few things God cannot do. And they give us confidence that we never knew. Praise God for the things God cannot do.
