This is based on a poem by Ruben Brosbe. While he was writing it, I was standing behind him strumming what I am certain was the first chord progression I had ever written back in sixth grade when I started playing guitar. We looked at each other and decided that the words were perfect for the music. This was the first song I ever performed in front of an actual audience and so it will always hold a special place in my heart. The song "Simon on Stage" off of Also Ran, is loosely based on the experience of playing this song that first night. I believe that the recording posted here was the final demo version, and not the version that was put on the album. Since I only have the final demo, I have no way to compare.
