After Josh had picked up guitar for a few months, Mike and he began playing a dual guitar style. Lead and rhythm. Mike was an obvious choice for lead because he had more experience soloing. One afternoon, Josh came up with a simple rhythm - a 4 chord dity with a simple penetonic progression lead. He showed it to Mike and they jammed it out with Josh taking the lead the first time. It came out very good, Josh couldn't keep up the lead for long and soon switched to an electric rhythm. Mike pulled out an amazing bluesy acoustic solo. But the song had not yet been born. Both wanted more with the song. With out any further rehersal or preperation they decided to make another recording. Mike wanted to give a try on the electric lead, so Josh picked up the acoustic. They began recording the song. It took on a whole new life. There were so many change ups that matched everytime. Mike's soloing opened up the song like a hot knife through butter. This inspired Josh, so they did a switch up. Josh pulled out an amazing acoustic solo like nothing he had ever played before. Then, continuing to just spank this song into the ground. The duo continued with so many switch ups and scales over each other and timing changes that the song instantly became the first big thing to make VSG the dynamic group they are now. They called it Lifers.
