Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
In the summer of 2000, SUNY Potsdam held their orientation for their incoming freshmen class. Aaron Ford, a Buffalo native, patiently sat in the office listening to his walkmen as the other freshmen socialized. This would be the first meeting of his "Rap Partner in Crime." Gary Pray, a New York City native born in Virginia, came in the office to sign in. The two exchanged words and the rest is history...
Ford and Pray have been inseparable ever since. Even when Pray left school for a year and returned in 2003. They kept in contact.
Roger "IceBerg" Ousley was also a student @ the school and friend to the pair. " I knew the both of them for a while before we even knew each other rapped. We were just cool as friends 1st and foremost." said Ford. The Guys would sometimes make music for fun in the early days not even considering the possibilities. Ousley saw the potential and contacted his brother, super producer Vinny Idol, who provided the Group with beats before they had even made a name for themselves. With the guidance of Ousley, Ford and Pray formed " the Usual Suspectz" now known as "U.S. Music" today.
U.S. pronouned "Us" was an expression they used meaning "what's mine is yours." Ford took on the alliance "O.Z" and Pray would be called "Gray." The Group uses Versitility as their driving force. Being from different areas they have been influenced by many different genres of music. "I believe tha's the key to longevity because times are always changing. So you never know what kind of song you may hear from US."
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
