unfold
After more than 7 years of existence, Unfold has developped a very personnal and worked out approach toward music. Having called into question all its past principles and recipes, with no fear of losing what "had made" Unfold, the band developped new material : longer and darker songs, unusual schemes, loud and noisy riffs and tremedous and oppressive bass/drums rhythmics.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Unfold was formed during autumn 1995 in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland. After having released 2 Eps ("Five" and a split with Swiss band called Shovel), Unfold recorded its first album "Pure" in 1999 with Swedish producer Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Darkane), and which sold more than 4’000 copies in France and Switzerland only. Now, after 100 live shows, the band starts a new series of concerts across Europe, promoting "AEON AONŸ.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Unfold played more than 150 gigs, mostly in Switzerland and France. Now the band's members are busy with other projects, but a come back will be great for everyone.
Your musical influences
We are always under new influences and seeking for new ideas, for what sounds interesting. We would say Neurosis, Crowbar, Refused, Meshuggah, Knut, Katatonia, Cult of Luna, and much more.
What equipment do you use?
With Unfold we use 7 strings guitars (LTD, Epiphone, and other brands), Ampeg amp for bass, Fender bass, Tama Drums, DW pedals, Different brands for cymbals (paiste, Zildjian)
