UNCLE BIG BAD

Mondell Robinson aka "Uncle Big Bad", from Omaha, Ne. UBB is one of the most lyrical underground emcees in the midwest. Ubb will be performing Dec 11th, at the Royal Grove in Lincoln, NE. UBB is also a dj and producer.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I actually started rhyming about 1985, just freestyling. I improved steadily with some aquired skills and techniques which kind of exposed me as a freestyle competitor, but definitely not the best (but definitely in the top 10). I took a few long-term breaks from rhyming because during the next 10 years, life's changes and obstacles ('87 '97), but i never lost my love for music. However, a very unfortunate event happined in my life on father's day; my dj, Stanley ("Top Notch) died in a car accident, I gave up on a lot of things after that. It wasn't until 1997 that my love for the game resurfaced in Souix City, IA. I formed a 3 man trio called The Midwest Invasion" (later findind out that there was a Kansas City group with the same name). Members were Uncle Big Bad (myself), Klumzie ("PJ" Paul Austin), and Sticcy Greene (Fred Hobbs). We performed basically within the midwest parimeter, and recieved good replies from all shows. I ran into legal problems and had to relocate, which cause the group to eventually fade on out. Sticcy Greene currently resides in Texas, and Klumzie in Des Moines, IA. Before our rap time is up, we will re-group, so watch out for it.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yeah, I will play live upon request; but it's just so political around my way. What I mean by that is...if you don't know the right people or kiss the right butt, "YOU GETS NOTHING!". I can get with road shows, other places that will appreciate underground talent.
