Unchained (Thrash Metal)
Classic Metal, with traces of old school thrash and a little bit of folk. A 4-piece metal band from Lurgan fond of loud guitars, louder drums, growling vocals and of course flutes and fiddles.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Unchained was formed in September of 2001 in a smokey snooker room in Lurgan. The first line up was Dave Briggs (Guitar+Vocals), Bob Moore (Guitar) and Aaron Lyons (Drums)who went to work covering Megadeth and Iron Maiden songs. They played a couple of gigs as a 3-piece and were soon joined by Steve Cowan on Bass. In early 2002 Aaron was replaced by Pete Alcorn on drums and a few months later Steve split from the band. They then went into a studio to record their demo entitled "DETHWATCH," beginning with the song "Dying Again" which is still requested at almost every gig. A few months later Bob left. Cut down to only two members Unchained began to search first for a bass player then a guitarist. Pete found Ryan Knox lurking in the depths of an additional maths class and recued him from his travesty of a band and soon Ryan was appointed the prestigious position of Unchained Bassist. Unchained began gigging again as a 3-piece and after a few more months they began work on their debut album "NOTHING AFTER DEATH" During the recording they brought on board Andrew Bridgett to fill in the gap of rhythm guitarist. To this day they continue to give it stacks with their melodic metal....
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes -obviously live gigging is the only way to make a name for your band. We play wherever we can. Gigs go down the best when the crowd gets up and tries to sign along with Dave to the Trooper...
