Tropic Culture

Our "fun and energetic" music encourages an uplifting syncopation. The Pop/Rock/Reggae fused with Latin Rhythms combination entices virgin ears to stop and listen. A mix between Cafe Tacuba, Ozomatli, Manu Chao, Santana and Dave Mathews Band, make the music experience a treat to anyone in presence. Family friendly to all ages and groups, our music is funky, rhythmically catchy and vibrant. Our instrumentation is powerful, skillful and relieving. We are musically influenced by jazz, Latin, rock and reggae backgrounds. Influential bands range from domestic to international bands. The collections of different cultures, ultimately, collide to form the Tropic Culture Band.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started in May, 2006 with eventually adding the final members early 2007. Joined the Emergenza International Music Festival competition in 2007 where we won Charlotte, Columbia, Nashville and came in second place at the regional finals in Atlanta. Now we have released our debut album and had our Cd Release Party, July 17, 2008. All this done independently with no record deal and so forth.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We have played live in many places, But the most exciting and fulfilling time was our CD Release Party at the Visulite Theater. Great spot with lights, and the whole works. Very exciting stuff. We will definitely play there again.
Your musical influences
As mentioned earlier, pop, rock, reggae fused with latin rhythms can pretty much describe what we are all about. We actually have jazz, funk, rock, reggae, latin influences. We can go to a hard rock venue and make anyone there dance and have a good. We have been told that people listen to our music in the mornings to start off the day with an uplifting and relaxed spirit. That means a lot to us. Listen for your self.
What equipment do you use?
Pro Audio: Mackie self powered speakers and Subwoofer, Mackie 16VLZ-pro board, Audix Mics for intruments and vocals. We also have a seinhouser vocal mike. Guitar: Taylor Acoustic, Fender electric, Marshal Amps, Fender Amps, hartcke Amps, Drums; Yamaha Congas: LP Matadors and bongo. And many more things that I don't remember right now.
Anything else?
We love family and outdoor events, especially festivals. We consider everyone family and that is how we view our world.
