Tribo Sul

Tribo SUl, is an Angolan underground hip hop group.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
TRIBO SUL BIO Following the rhythms of our daily life, the most unfavorable social layer knew hip hoop as culture, where in protest of false politic and worse social life in which the so called third world countries, in particular Africa are condemned. We are using RAP as music and microphone as gun in a verbal war. Rap was born in Africa and today it is spread by millions of soldiers and activists around the world. Emcees embraced rap as music and the mic as a gun in a verbal fight utilizing rhythm. The lower social classes have known hip hop as a culture in protest of false politics and poor living conditions to which the so-called countries of the third world, in particular Africans are condemned. TRIBO SUL is one of hip-hop's platoons, quartered in the ghettos of Luanda (Angola). TRIBO - Tribe SUL - Survivors united in battle. With revolutionary thought and positive balance, In the decadence of the 20th century, the world witnessed the rebirth of three soldiers focused on revolutionary thoughts and positive influence: L.K.Checcovara ('key of the revolution'), First Page ('voice of the poor'), Cavera C. (‘torch of freedom' the producer, and sound engineer of the group), who on behalf of the movement, traveled for miles in search of freedom. In which on behalf of the movement, sail kilometers in search of freedom. In a world like this, where war, pain, corruption, death etc. are making the headlines, to talk about freedom is for many people a crime, and victimized are those who truly express themselves, becoming a conflict between the servant of truth and the evil slaves. Gone are the days, but the pain continues in the present in which Tribo Sul was considered by Angolan society to be bandits, crazy anti-governmental political movement, etc. Victimized by a vast false political propaganda, followed with media blockade, hunted by the police and with the implementation of the military service obligatory, the platoon hardly left their family, friends, their poor affectionate people and the country that saw them born and its barracks, crossing borders seeking for asylum in South Africa (Cape Town). Leaving behind a civil war fed by corrupt power, now welcomed by racist society, contaminated by drugs, violence, Aids and xenophobia the platoon face up a new battle. Battle after battle the struggle continues and thank God in one of those daily battle the platoon got hold of Masta Joy ('Gun on the target'), who became the fourth soldier of the platoon. Identified by positive language, revolutionary voices and Afro hardcore beats, representing the BRIGADA SALVA TERRA and the colors black, green and white in the flag with the slogan FREEDOM, BREAD & WATER. BLACK- Black power, Mourning. GREEN- Nature, Hope. WHITE- Peace, Holy Spirit. If, for many to be an African is sadness, for us it means pride and we have as objective to wake, to rhythmically obtain freedom in Africa and contribute to its development below the surface, driven by the mic in the dismantlement of secrets, which by thousands have been hidden. From public performance, recording, collecting funds for the needy population (orphans, homeless, refugees) and the ground works (evangelization in recruitment of new soldiers), the Platoon manifests the culture. Starting with 2, today the platoon transport a carriage with 13 followers. Influenced by the revolutionary work, black power, Holy Spirit and encouraged by the voices of Steve Bico, Malcolm X, Nelson Mandela, Luther King, Fela Kuti, Public Enemy, Peter Tash, Racionais Mc's and Bob Marley, the Platoon thanks in name of Son, the Father, the power implanted in the blood of those Men who by truth transport the cross as did Jesus Christ, and who encouraged Dead Prez, Don Zacarias Comuenho and all freedom fighters. With 7 to 11 years of street knowledge as experience, the group recorded its first promotional single in September 2000 called Faz Aagain, composed by 3 tracks, 1 year after taking part in the project Genise, the first Angolan underground hip hop compilation. 2 years later Tribo Sul recorded its second single also consisting of 3 tracks called Grava Mensagem, featuring Master M. Recently Tribo Sul participated in an Angolan underground hip-hop compilation in Cape Town with the track called I’m fed up, compilation Parlamento de rua (street parliament) produced by Cavera C. and Short Bang.
