Jed and I met online in about November 2007 and he introduced me to the world of online jamming through Ninjam. He encouraged me to write lyrics and then to get some gear and start singing. I loved it so much, I started taking lessons (after daydreaming about doing that for years) and we've come along in leaps and bounds since then. We like jazz standards / jazz fusion / pop / r&b / latin / chillout and Jed is always keen to rock out if given the chance. We're based in Auckland and Canberra which is about 3000kms apart, so technology is everything.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Hmm, I may have already answered this before so I wont repeat myself and save your eyes :)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We havent yet but do hope to one day, in a fairly relaxed environment. Neither of us is looking to make it big and become a stadium performer. But we both like the idea of small performances such as cafes and bars, so its a one day plan.
Your musical influences
Loads and since there's two of us - twice loads. For me - Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Alison Moyet - these are my heros. Ladies with big voices who make a big impact, but often in a very quiet smooth way. I know that Jed's heros include Larry Carlton, Robin Ford and Eric Clapton.
What equipment do you use?
I use a Shure dynamic microphone with a Line6 Toneport UX1, running on a HP laptop with Windows Vista (I like it) and Ejam and Reaper. Jed uses a hell of a lot more - starting with his Fender Strat :)
Anything else?
Meep!
