The people behind Transparent are: Tom Watson (producer/songwriter), Rebecca McLoughlin (lead vocalist/songwriter), Vanessa Farah (backing vocals) and Tarin Marshall (backing vocals).
Tom Watson, who became well known for his remix of "What You Need" by INXS, has been producing and writing music ever since he was a baby. As quoted by his mum,
"All the other kids had stuffed toys in their cots. We just gave Tom a Transistor Radio and he would be happy."
From the age of 14, Tom started learning to play the piano. At the same time, Mr Watson also started to teach himself Recording and Production by using software on his home PC.
By the age of 17 he had already written and produced a track that made it onto rotation at Fresh Fm and SA-FM.
In 2002 he won 1st place in the Pop Category of the Young Composers Award. He also finished high school in this year and won the very prestigious Yr 12 Formal Award for, The Person Most Likely to Release a CD.
In 2003 he worked as an announcer on Fresh FM hosting the local music show, Fresh Air. In 2004 he started up his own music school teaching electronic music production while writing and recording songs with different singers. In late 2005 Tom came across the vocal talent of Rebecca McLoughlin.
Rebecca McLoughlin, started her singing career at age 11 when she was chosen to sing a solo of the song "You're the voice" in the South Australian Festival of Music.
She has taken the time to learn the piano, saxophone, guitar, clarinet and drums.
In 1999 she was awarded the "David Dancer Musician Award", In 2000 she was awarded the Joe Hannagan Award "Musician of the Year" and won the Kools Skool Competition Best Female Vocalist award.
Rebecca went to the Flinders Street School of Music in 2001 where she studied classical music in Saxophone performance and then went on to study Bachelor of Music Teaching at the Adelaide University. At the same time she was singing regularly with many different bands and as a solo artist.
In 2004 Rebecca won the "Search for a Singer" competition and began teaching at AIMMS School of Rock. It was at the School of Rock where Rebecca saw an ad to do some singing with producer Tom Watson.
Since late 2005, Tom Watson and Rebecca McLoughlin have been recording music under the name of Transparent for the soon to be released album, Endless Summer. Their song Endless Summer recently won the 2006 Pacific Songwriting Competition, Dance Category.Your musical influences
