Part of an ongoing conversion toward industrial music. Still a ways to go, but I find this a seductively entertaining song.

Story behind the song
While I've been listening to a host of songs and albums associated with avant-garde noise industrial (SP's "Last Rights," old Download, a bit of Einsturzende Neubauten) and slowly getting better with sound manipulation, I've been wanting to get into just such a scene. It's actually been a deliberate "mental retooling," forcing myself to consider harsh, noisy messes of audible guck rather than pretty songs with conventional instrumentation - or at least the samples/synthesizing of such instruments. This tune was started and finished practically overnight, inspired by a cocktail of listening to Download's song "Base Metal" and watching the movie Shutter Island. In recreating the minimalist music I caught from the movie and adding some warped, staggering sounds, it evolved into a spoken word piece using my old poem by the same name of the song. I tried the singing bit and, well, never again.
