This is the original version of All Human Parts Orchestra's 'Your Experiment' in a different key with a different feel. Note the presence of what later became 'They're Here' at the beginning. Bob played the instruments over top of my original demo.

Story behind the song
People assume that this is about dysfunctional relationships or abuse of laboratory animals, but I actually wrote it after stubbing my toe on a chair that seemingly wasn't there a moment before. It started out as a dialog with an imaginary supreme being who, instead of watching over us, takes pleasure in seeing us suffer. Later it evolved into what it is now: a song about living in New Jersey.
Lyrics
I'm not sure how this began I'm not sure of anything at all But something is holding me, from inside I can't see the light of day But there's a light shining in my eyes Now my heart's beating faster But I stay Now I don't want to shame you I don't want to blame you I don't want to bring you down But I don't like living here in this cage And I don't want to be a part of your experiment I don't want to live inside of your design Now I'm sick to death of reacting to your stimuli Now let me go, now give me back my life I've never been anywhere Where someone around me didn't care But these people they look at me with lifeless eyes If you think that it's just a test You've been taken with all the rest What gives you the right to play with my mind? Now if someone is greater or something is higher They're wearing a brilliant disguise The stars look much different now... no surprise That I don't want to be a part of your experiment I don't want to live inside of your design Now I'm sick to death of reacting to your stimuli Now let me go, now give me back my life I don't want to be.... don't want to be... Don't want to be a part... of your experiment...
