Story behind the song
My entry in the August 2007 KVR Music contest.
Inspiration for this month's entry came from multiple sources.
In the July gossip thread at KVR, there was talk about having a rap theme. I haven't tried rapping before, and thought it would be fun. The contest theme turned out not to be rap, but I figured there wasn't anything to prevent it. So I decided to make my ABA entry a rap.
Sound-wise, I've been playing around a lot with synth1 lately. When I first tried it over a year ago, I dismissed it as a farily weak-sounding synth, based primarily on some sounds in the included bank. That was a mistake, as I discovered recently when I came across a number of free banks for it that were quite good. I ended up using synth1 for all of the synth sounds on this track.
Lyrically, there was a discussion in this month's gossip thread at KVR that reminded me of many other discussions I've seen online. There always seems to be at least one person out there who "knows" the truth, and they'll let you know it. This track isn't aimed at any particular person (let that be absolutely clear); the gossip thread discussion just reminded me of that general tendency (which certainly extends beyond the internet), and I thought it would make a good subject for my rapping.
