The experimental semi-acoustic wing of guitar-based vocal harmony and instrumental trio, Bright Spark

UnSparkPlugged is the writing, preview and demo wing of the band Bright Spark.

We have lots of new songs at various stages of development, and they appear here designated as follows:

"Skim" means just a flavour of the song, not necessarily complete or coherent or in the right order.

"Outline" is similar but should give the structure too.

"Preview" is a bit more complete, often with a bass, harmonies and extra guitar tracks.

"Demo" is pretty much how the finished version will sound, often recorded by the full band with drums etc., but needs proper mixing and mastering.

"Current" is mixed but needs further mastering, etc.

"Final" well, are they ever final? but usually this is the released CD version and is ready for the Bright Spark page.

Independent artist UnSparkPlugged drops "Dream Police (preview)", an Experimental track on SoundClick. The track carries an emotional weight that lingers well after it ends. With a tone that is shadows, the rolling stones and the doors, UnSparkPlugged's track connects on an emotional level. "Dream Police (preview)" has peaked at #16 in the Experimental category on SoundClick. In the style of Beatles, Radiohead and Coldplay, this type-beat track is available to license royalty-free with a Creative Commons license on UnSparkPlugged's SoundClick page.

Story behind the song
John Bartram wrote this song about the encroachment into our lives and the attempts by politicians to shape our views for their own ends. This preview version has four vocal lines by John and one by Heather. John plays the underlying chiming electric guitar and the instrumental solo. Heather's fretless bassline plays e,f,e,f against the Am7 and Fmaj7 chords, e,g,e,g against the G chord then e,f#,e,f# against the D, then reverts to conventional patterns in the instrumental. The next version will be recorded in the studio from scratch, this is our normal way of working. Pete will probably replace a couple of the vocal lines and will of course add drums, which will improve this song no end!
Lyrics
Dream Police When you're young it's all OK and help is all at hand but don't grow old, you'll feel the cold, they'll bury you in the sand Stand right up and speak your mind or even only think it We're tuning into all your kind, your pleasure-boat we'll sink it We are your Dream Police, we are your Dream Police – and we're gonna find you! Too many others coming here, they force-feed what to believe in We've done quite well so disbelieve the web of lies they're leaving Global warming, new age dawning, the planet must be saved Alarmist talk then takes your mind off politicians who've misbehaved We are your Dream Police, we are your Dream Police – and we're gonna find you! {Instrumental} We are your Dream Police, we are your Dream Police – and we're gonna find you! While Bush and Blair are waging war, making friends in the Middle East, You are forced to believe they are really making peace. Last week we're at war with them and this week they're our friends, Next week we can apologize, do our best to make amends We are your Dream Police, we are your Dream Police – We're gonna get you! We're gonna get you! We're gonna get you!
