Dark Transfixion rose from the remains of Malice, the band formed by bassist Sean McCauley, Guitarists Eric Rettke and Jim Cosgrave, and Drummer Mike Caddigan. After roughly 4 years of instability, playing few shows, and playing all covers, Malice started to fall apart in 2003, after Justin Laforte joined up as second guitarist to replace Eric Rettke. Jim's interest in music changed, and Mike just didn't have the time to dedicate to a band. Justin and Sean went on together as Malice recording various covers with digital drum tracks. Then around January of 2004 things started to pick up. Sean switched to Rhythm Guitar, Justin on Lead Guitar and a new drummer was found; Luke Bell. The three began playing together as yet another form of Malice until it was decided to drop the name and start as a new band. Dark Transfixion was offically born on July 21, 2004, with the line up of Sean playing rhythm guitar and handling vocals, Justin playing lead guitar, Luke playing drums, and another new member, Ed Rockrohr on Bass. Justin and Sean have been and still are writing extensively and the band is recording the demo as the writing progresses. Ed Rockrohr was replaced by Steve Small (fo real) in January 2005 because Ed didnt have the time, dedication, or skill to play in Dark Transfixion. February 2005 has been a very eventful month as well. After being rejected for the Tinley Park battle of the bands, Sean recieved an e-mail from Halo Guitars Inc., offering a one year endorsement for Justin, Sean, and Steve...Of Course we accepted...shortly after, John Kampstra was added to the band as singer to finally complete Dark Transfixion.
