Story behind the song
While attending Bible College I was getting all my clothes secondhand. I kept getting these nice shoes from people, that were all a little too large. It occurred to me that it was a good metaphor for my life in general. I had to rely on God every day just to get through- and He was so there for me.
Lyrics
I am your daughter, you hold my hand.
The hidden hungers of my heart, you understand.
But do I trust you? I hang my head.
Where is my faith when I'm afraid of what's ahead?
I cannot fill these shoes You're giving me to wear.
The journey is too far and much too hard to bear, unless you carry me.
Carry me...
You are so holy- I am so small.
Apart from you I can do nothing at all.
But, you have bid me to follow you.
I long for nothing else, Lord Jesus, keep me true.
I cannot fill these shoes You're giving me to wear.
The journey is too far and much too hard to bear, unless you carry me.
Carry me...
When I am weak, then I am strong,
that the power of Christ may rest on me.
you make my feet like deer's feet, and you make me walk on mountains.
I cannot fill these shoes You're giving me to wear.
The journey is too far and much too hard to bear, unless you carry me.
Carry me...
Carry me, Daddy, carry me.
Carry me, Jesus, carry me.
Carry me Daddy, carry me.
Carry me, carry, carry me.
