Half Moon Bay
Indie Track | Half Moon Bay by Toshio Mana | Free Download
Not-quite-finished upbeat kinda laptop-rockish tune.
My staging ground for ideas I'm working on... Likely to be lots of stuff in various stages of completion. It will run the gamut, too - from experimental/abstract electronica to straight-ahed pop, proggish-rock to spoken word.

Story behind the song
Half Moon Bay was inspired when a friend (whom I'd fallen in love with) moved to Half Moon Bay. In that younger, more romantic stage, I fell in love with the name, "Half Moon Bay" and, along with Diamond Rise, came to represent these sort of mythical/paradisical places.
Interesting to note is that the original inception of the song was much more of a cross between Def Leppard and the Police. This version was me beginning to foray into laptop rock and was initially intended to have a constant 16th note feel hocketed/dove-tailed between all the instruments. Never quite got there but I'm happy with where it went instead.
Btw. I'm not terribly happy with my own voice on this song and am kinda thinking of finding someone whose voice fits closer to what I'm hearing in my head. I still also need to get the guitar solo in there...
Lyrics
Tears of twighlight fading into view
Each one a reason I am here with you
I want to share them tonight
Echos of sunset dancing through the sky
Chasing the memories we will bear in time
I want to see your truth
[ CHORUS ]
Sitting on the edge of forever
Watching the tide swim away
The ocean rages in valleys and peaks
Touching the sands of Half Moon Bay
The voice of water - a laughter greets our ears
Whispering secrets we're not afraid to hear
I want to read you my thoughts
Cliffs of the heavens reaching out their hands
Holding the answers - each hope a grain of chance
that we'll find what was lost
