Randy is a guitarist, songwriter, and home-studio musician whose musical roots go back to the classic rock era of the 1970s. Influenced early on by artists like Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Buck Dharma, Ritchie Blackmore, and Mark Farner, his playing focuses on melodic lead guitar, expressive bends, and strong rock grooves rather than flashy speed.

He began performing live while still in school in Port Angeles, Washington, playing dances and local events with his early band Atlantis. After years of playing and developing his style, he later performed extensively in the Portland, Oregon area with the band Orange, playing clubs and venues across western Oregon and often performing six nights a week. The band covered a wide range of rockfrom Uriah Heep and Foreigner to Cheap Trick and Blue Öyster Cultwhile also performing original material.

In the early 2000s Randy began recording his own music at home using Cakewalk and other recording tools. His recordings combine real guitars and bass with programmed or live drums and occasional keyboard textures. Many songs feature layered rhythm guitars, melodic solos, and classic rock-influenced arrangements.

The album Bad Blood was created during this period, with contributions from several musicians including bassist David and later brothers Ron Montney (drums) and Carl Montney (bass). Ron’s energetic, cymbal-rich drumming stylereminiscent of classic rock drummers like Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker, and Keith Moonhelped give the recordings a live band feel.

Randy records most guitar parts using Fender Stratocasters and other guitars through Marshall and Fender amplifiers, often blending tones to create a wide stereo sound. His approach emphasizes feel, melody, and musical interaction rather than technical flash.

Today he continues writing and recording music in his home studio, exploring guitar-driven rock, instrumentals, and keyboard-based compositions. His music reflects decades of playing, performing, and recordingcombining classic rock influences with personal songwriting and modern home-studio production.
