Story behind the song
Title track to the album release of "Overture" by Erin Reilly. This concept album imitates a musical theater production, "Overture" is an entire music album that portrays the beginning to the end of time as accounted in the bible. It tells of the most epic true story of all time, where all humanity is called to have new life, freedom and confidence in the victory won by the main character, Jesus Christ. The serpent, also known as Satan, the main antagonist, relentlessly attempts to steal, kill, and destroy this plan of redemption God has set up since the very beginning. Highlighting the walk and perspective of biblical characters and present day believers "Overture" brings a prolific retelling of a story of war, tragedy, love, and redemption through music.

Lyrics
The serpent is preaching, so sweetly deceiving
Severing God from man, a prop with revenge as the goal
Beauty subsides in the violence of the song that never ends
A war for the soul
It was all in the overture, it was all in the overture
CHORUS
This is a fatal reprise
A bite that kills from inside
Alters the light within your eyes
Demanding blood for redemption
Rebellion that birthed death’s conception
Repeats this overture, opened the aperture of demise
For all mankind
Waiting, the beast is surveilling
Tempting to trap once more, enticing with power and vanity
Craving beyond your dowry
Trading boundaries for delight created enmity
It was there hanging on a tree, the curse of humanity
A sword was forged, we justly paid
Can’t erase the taste of the serpent's fate
The dangled knife in front of my face
The fruit of Satan’s fall from grace
Can’t bare the absence of God’s embrace
Did you not hear the overture? Did you learn from the overture? It was all in the overture
CHORUS
