So where do we start? "Lets Start at the Very Beginning" . . .

First Piano lesson age 7 with a Heaton Norris, Stockport teacher called Jessie Davies. My parents Bill and Alice gave me this opportunity. Up to Trinity College of Music Grade 8 then stopped lessons as live playing opportunities started to appear. Was the School Pianist at St Annes RC in Heaton Chapel. Then came the opportunity to be Joan Bates Dancing (Academy) School Pianist in Stockport for lessons, dancing displays, exams, competitions and quite extraordinary Shows in Kings Hall, Belle Vue, Manchester. I then played in various small function bands. I met up with Alan Yates, Guitarist of Altrincham and we formed "The Alan Anthony Set". Along with others members, Ron on drums, Eddie on bass (followed by Pete on bass). Through our Agent, Alan Arnison we hit upon a wealth of Prestige Functions even including doing side stage to the Andy Ross Orchestra at the opening of the Daily Star Newspaper. Summers I spent as Sunday to Friday Resident Pianist-Organist at Pontins Prestatyn Sands in North Wales. AND WE ARE STILL ONLY IN THE 1970s! My life has largely been "as one door closes another opens". Through working with top line Cabaret Acts at Pontins I learned about Magic. In 1981 myself and my wife Susan turned Pro. Party Magicians, and also toured as Cabaret with Magic and Puppet Speciality Act. WHOOSH! We retired just a week before the Covid Pandemic. WHOOSH! what next? a whole list of songs for a family wedding in 2027 . . . life goes on . . .

Story behind the song
Here is a piece that was once in the repertoire of every pianist in the 1950s/60s/70s - played to various degrees of expertise. My wife Susan page turned the sheet music for me as I recorded this piece - as there are some quite nonsensically printed page turn moments. It's from a UK 1947 quite drab Movie called "While I Live". The actual musical performance on the movie is also quite poor too, as is most of the acting. But the composer Charles Williams created something here that subsequently took on a life of it's own far greater than the Movie.
