Story behind the song

I originally started writing this after the death of a friends pet and decided it would be more relatable if it were about a failed relationship.
"Dreamin', wish that I were dreamin', and I would wake to find, you'd still be by my side today" was about a special dog named Tammy.

Lyrics

Dreamin' ... wish that I were dreamin',
and I would wake to find you'd still be by my side today.
Your love ... the kind that dreams are made of.
How was I to know you'd take your love and go away?

BRIDGE
What happened to the hopes and plans we made together?
You threw them all away. Suddenly I’m not the girl of your tomorrow.
 I’m your fool from yesterday.

Dreamin'. Wish that I were dreamin'.
I guess it's not to be ... you're not in love with me you say.

BRIDGE

Dreamin' ... like a school girl I was dreamin'.
The stars were in my eyes ... I blame it on naïveté.
Dreamin'. Wish that I were dreamin'.... and I would wake to find you’d still be by my side today.
