Kenn Crawford is a published songwriter from the coal mining town of Glace Bay, on Cape Breton Island (Nova Scotia, Canada).

The picturesque coastline, the rolling hills of Margaree, and his love of Cape Breton are the inspiration behind many of his songs.

Like many of his fellow Cape Bretoners, he was forced to travel west in search of work, but the Island continually called him "Home".

Kenn Crawford's was selected and published by Allister MacGillivray in THE CAPE BRETONER magazine as the featured song while , performed by 10-year old Ashely Smith, is receiving tremendous reviews. Kenn co-wrote Dear God with Ashely's mother (Angie Smith of Georgetown, Ohio) and it is currently being aired on WAOL 99.5 FM.

The GOD'S OF MUSIC wrote the following when they heard Dear God: "This one tugs on your heart strings, big time. It is a poignant song, sung by a little girl with a big voice."

Kenn spends as much time as he can in his Recording studio and just recently opened CLAN CRAWFORD STUDIO, a ProTools-based studio to help other Cape Bretoners record their songs. Kenn is writing songs with Len Bosh Jr. (Soundoffury.com) as well as collaborating with several songwriters from across the globe.

Story behind the song

Angie and I wanted to write a song together that her daughter Ashley could sing.  DEAR GOD is the song we came up with.  The "GODS OF MUSIC" reviewed this song and said: 
The adult "powers" behind the young and talented Miss Ashley have submitted her song Dear God to the Gods of Music for a critique. 
....Miss Ashley has a lovely young voice with a promising career ahead of her. This song is heart-wrenching"
...The song is professionally produced and has a traditional country sound reminiscent of a young Tanya Tucker or perhaps Loretta Lynn. If Miss Ashley were my daughter, I'd be very proud. This one tugs on your heart strings, big time. It is a poignant song, sung by a little girl with a big voice.
