Top Ten Idols
Top Ten Idols
Top Ten Idols are an alternative-pop band located in Pittsburgh, PA. Their first album, "American Romeo" released in 2001, highlighted their dedication to songwriting and use of melody. Since then, TTI continued honing their song craft and their tight live performances and in November 2003 released their follow-up album "Broadcast Day". This release reflects a more mature approach to songwriting and lyrical imagery, while maintaining their tradition of big hooks and catchy melodies. Don't be surprised if you find yourself humming these songs to yourself long after the CD has ended.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Frank Postava- drums
Frankie started off his musical career in college and continued his musical exploration playing with the University of Pittsburgh’s African Drum Ensemble. Being familiar with Bern's prior projects, Frank teamed up with him in the formation of Top Ten Idols. He has a wide range of musical influences but relates most closely to Jeff Buckley.
Matt Sever- guitar
Matt has been involved in numerous recording projects in Boston, New York and Washington DC, ranging from modern folk to progressive rock. However, Matt had not quite found the band he was looking for until he joined Top Ten Idols. Some of Matt’s favorite guitarists are Allan Holdsworth and Bill Frisell.
Bern Steinbacher- vocals and guitar
Bern is the principal songwriter and vocalist for the idols. Bern has been a continuous face in the Pittsburgh music scene since college, having performed in several renowned Pittsburgh bands over the years. After a little respite to attend Medical School, he helped form what are now the Top Ten Idols.
Marc Turina- bass and backing vocals
Marc plays bass and provides back up vocals for the band, and has a long history in the Pittsburgh music scene as well. Although Marc has a wide range of musical influences, his all-time bass idol is Andy Rourke of the Smiths.
