No Rap...no crap, this is rock man! Melodic and energetic, thought provoking, classic yet new, edgy yet sounding fat, earthy yet spirited. The music of Tony Koretz takes you to heights seldom reached in this day of puppet musicians and syrupy singers. Grab the phones , turn up the volume...music as it should be! "...........eloquent styling and compelling song craft" Todd Smith, The Cutting Edge ".............great singing and guitarplaying" Arne Asblomo, MelodicHardRockToday "....... just plain smokes with rock'n roll fervor and passion" Holly Day, Music Dish
Band/artist history
Tony Koretz is a musician, singer , songwriter and audio engineer , based in New Zealand, with a flair for writing and performing guitar-based melodic rock. Since beginning playing piano at age 10, guitar at age 16 years, he has had to a love of performing in bands and solo, and the recording of his self-penned music. A few years later, learning the craft of audio engineering has meant he has an involvement in all aspects of music production, from writing to recording, mixing and mastering. His own brand of music is heavily influenced by such classic rockers as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Phil Keaggy: His guitar playing style is somewhat a mix of all these .Other guitarists that have influenced his music include Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen, Rex Carrol and Kerry Livgren. However, not just a guitarist, Tony's vocals are delivered using a good range, a powerful style and a passion often lacking among today's syrupy singers. His latest album is a CD titled 'Kicking Cans', a collection of 12 songs that are often characterized by warm acoustic guitars, dirty sounding electric guitars, and an organ / Leslie speaker combination, with a strong dynamic feel evident throughout. Keyboard duties shared between Tony and Matt Schmitt, Cameo backing vocals performances by Koretz brothers Simon and Marcel, drums and saxophone courtesy of brother Nathan, along with Tony's melodic guitar playing and stirring vocals give this album it's character. It was recorded over a two year period, at the Rocksure Soundz Country Lane studio. A compelling live show helps to bring this music to life whenever and wherever it is performed.
