TonyK

I'm TonyK - not really a band, just me. TonyK is short for Tony Krasinski. I go by TonyK because it's easier to spell and it sounds cool. I'm from Erie, Pennsylvania, which is a wonderful place to live and raise a family, not so wonderful a place to be 'discovered'.

My main instrument is bass guitar but I also play drums, guitar and I sing a lot. I started writing songs and playing in local bands at the ripe old age of 16. Suffice it to say that was a more than a few years ago. Over the years I played in many different bands, in many different styles primarily as a bass player but I've also had a couple stints as a drummer.

If you're wondering why I decided to stay in Erie it was a choice that was made for me in college when I met the future Mrs. TonyK. A couple years after graduation we got married and a couple years after that the children began to arrive. Today there are three of them, all boys, all excellent kids.

My taste in life is as eclectic as my taste in music. Besides my day job I coach youth hockey, baseball and still find time to write songs.

Back to the music. I decided to stop playing in bands a couple years ago. Erie's not a hot bed for original music and being that I had no interest in playing covers I wanted to concentrate on trying to pursue a songwriting career. Plus, it gets tiresome wondering if the rest of the band will show up on time and how high they'll be when they finally arrive.

Although the songs on this site are of the pop/rock variety, I love and am influenced by all types of music. I'm a great believer in keeping things simple, trying to create songs that are memorable and will stand the test of time. A lot of effort was put into every one of these songs and if you listen closely you'll be able to pick a few different elements out each time you listen.

Writing and recording songs is not something I want to do; it's something I have to do. I enjoy the process of crafting songs from the drums up, all by myself. Every note and lyric was conceived, performed, recorded and mastered by me in my humble little 8-track digital studio.

I'm hopeful there's someone out there willing to take a chance on an unknown artist like me. If not, I'll be here writing and recording as I always have. Continuing to try writing the perfect song.
