Tom, 24, is unique in the fact that he sings, plays most instruments, records, and produces all of his own music. With his hands on everything, Tom approaches each song with excellence in mind. From a simple melody, which transforms into a full song, to an acoustical interlude, the music is anything but ordinary. Tom's music is a fun/laid-back blend of the Goo Goo Dolls meet Travis meets Ben Folds. Through his music, and while performing, Tom has an ability to connect with the college crowd with his acoustic based piano/guitar concert. The passion for his writing is found in the honesty of the song lyrics. Each song paints a picture of both the humanness and genuineness of the things Tom holds true in life. He can and does relate to where the average college student is at in life.
Band/artist history
Tom has been performing for 8 years in one facet or another. He is the owner of Milkshake Studios, and has co-written a song with Doug McKelvey, "Getting There", who has worked with San Diego based band, Switchfoot. Before pursuing a solo career, Tom was in the St. Louis based band, Good Friday. He traveled through all of the Midwest and wrote most of the music for the bands' 2 full-length recordings. After the band split, Tom focused on his own music and started a recording studio in the basement of his house.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yeah, check out my site for all this info (www.tomwehrle.com) - there's always a special moment at every show & I keep a diary of sorts there on each gig.
Your musical influences
MWS, Travis, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Switchfoot, Oasis, Delirious & U2
What equipment do you use?
Most my stuff is from natural sounds (guitars & piano) but I also have some keyboards (S90, JP800 and QS7.1) I've played around with some other things as well in the studio.
